Another yardsale has come and gone!
This year’s yardsale on the Sept 23/24 was a challenge when a pending report of hurricane conditions threatened to arrive on the weekend originally planned. Thankfully a quick change of plans to move to the following weekend ensured that we had a weekend of sun and mild temperatures for everyone to enjoy this annual event in comfort.
The hub of activity at Wood Islands Market was busy both days. Sales at the charity BBQ for hotdogs and sausages was brisk. Copper Bottom was there with a small beer garden and retail counter featuring a made for us 70 Mile Yardsale Ale. Vendors from far and wide had lots to offer shoppers looking for bargains!
Congratulations to the following winners of our 70 Mile Coastal Yard Sale Raffle:
Quilt made by Gail Thaxter : Carol MacKenzie
His and Her Smart Watches: Dianne Skinner
Chimney Sweep Compliments of Red Clay Construction: Lincoln Macpherson
Northumberland Ferry Passes: Maria Kmieciak, Jayda Crawford, Duncan Conrad, Judy Warren, Boneta Carter

Many thanks to our local business supporters, The Eastern Graphic, Cooper’s, Northumberland Ferries, Belle River Enterprises, and The Rural Municipality of Belfast for helping us ensure that this would be a successful event. Additional thanks to our Board Members and all of the great volunteers, that helped with all the tasks involved in planning and executing this annual event. It takes a lot of time and effort to pull this off and we just wouldn’t be able to do it without the many hands that make light work. We hope everyone had a great time shopping and eating their way around the island as they hunted for that special treasure and bountiful bargains.
And a special thanks to all of you who participated and made this the special event what it is! We can’t wait to see you all back next year!
One final note for all of you who had road signs to mark your yardsale, this week (Sept 25-30) is the week to return those signs and get a $5 refund. We ask that you please make an effort to return them so that we can reuse them next year and help us reduce costs for next year’s event. Simply drop them off at Wood Islands Liquor Store (during business hours) to get your refund. After this week the Liquor Store will be closed for the season.
