Sadly, we have decided not to hold the 70 Mile Yard Sale this year. This is based purely on the uncertainty of how things will progress this summer and the amount of time and effort that goes into planning and organizing this event. We look forward to making the 2021 yardsale an even more spectacular event. Anyone who has paid in advance for this year will be contacted in the coming weeks with options for making the payment count for 2021 or requesting a refund.
Due to the constrained space inside the lighthouse we do not yet have an opening date, but work is underway to prepare for the season. We are looking for 2 students to work with us this summer. The role will be varied and include cleaning indoors and out as well as some yard work. Please send your resume directly to our email email@example.com.
Please see our What’s Here section for opening dates for other operations at Wood Islands Village.
We are hoping to provide some activities in the months to come. Please check our What’s Happening page for more details.
We wish good health and safe distancing to our community and our world.

Bidding a sad farewell to our Wood Islands Fishing Village
The little fishing village situated near the Wood Islands Lighthouse has been a delight for locals and visitors alike. It was a labour of love by locals and constructed with local materials. Built in the 60’s by local trades people, with logs hauled out by horses from local woodlots, it has held a place that was near and dear to many hearts. It portrayed not only a peek into history to educate but also represented a commitment by community to keep history alive.
Time and weather have had their effect though, and recently the Province deemed it unsafe and scheduled removal.
But have no fear! While we are horribly saddened to see this local icon disappear from our shore, we are hard at work on a solution to replace it, so that we can continue to pay homage to our local history. With love in our hearts and a tip of the hat to history, we hope to one day have a safe, new fishing village on our shore for all to enjoy once again.
